I honestly think they gave Deng big money and waited on Gordon is because Gordon just really isn't all that great. He's one of the streakiest shooters out there, which I guess is good sometimes, but real bad other times. He tends to completely disappear in games and though he averages like 18.5 ppg, he always seems to be scoring 35 or 6 to achieve that average.

As you said, he is still an asset and he's a pretty good player, but he's not nearly as good as Deng and therefore shouldn't be as valuable.

It's going to be difficult getting anything of value for Ben Gordon in a trade. He has approval on any trade since he's taken the qualifying offer ... add to that the financial demands that everyone in the NBA think are exuberant .... and you end up in a situation where you're not getting much talent back in return.

Chicago would likely get better value from his performances on the court rather than with his trade value.

John Paxson waited too long. Now he's between a rock and a hard place. It's going to be very interesting how he develops this roster over the next 24 months, it'll say a lot about him as a general manager.
